Bloody battle at Chorley leaves Huddersfield Town Women empty-handed
Huddersfield Town fell to a 1-0 defeat after going behind after just 20 seconds away to Chorley in a game that ended in horrifying fashion
Huddersfield Town Women were left fuming after being denied a last-minute penalty after a challenge that sent substitute Molly Firth clattering head-first into a solid metal barrier.
Town had already lost Kia Montgomery to another head injury midway through the first half after an accidental collision with an opponent, and the referee was unmoved by the Town players’ protests after emotions understandably came bubbling out following the incident in injury time.
Caz Simone was sent to the sin bin for the rest of the game after questioning the decision, which came with Town still pushing to find a response after falling behind to Milie Fitzpatrick’s long-range strike just 20 seconds in.
Although they came away from the game fuming with injustice, there was an element of Town being their own worst enemies for much of the game.
