Calls for Championship VAR set impossible ideal that will never be achieved
It's lovely to think that bringing video technology into the EFL would improve things, but the Premier League's experience tells us it only leads to more frustration
We had already planned to write about VAR this week after Andre Breitenreiter called for the technology to be extended down to Championship level.
So it was almost ordained that the footballing gods would give us a horrible, heartbreaking example of why the Huddersfield Town head coach is so keen on the idea. The handball given against Ollie Turton in the dying moments against Bristol City was a bad call that could have profound implications for the Terriers’ survival hopes this season.
