Five conclusions: Defensive dilemmas for Huddersfield Town as dry spell at home continues
The Terriers haven't scored a goal in any of their five home fixtures in 2025
1. Yes, you guessed it: more injuries
Michael Duff’s lack of luck continued, with Tom Lees ruled out for a lengthy period and Radinio Balker forced off the field after just half an hour.
Let’s hear from the man himself:
“Radz (Radinio Balker) looks like he has pulled his quad.
“Tom Lees is injured. He blocked a cross in about the 87th or 88th minute on Tuesday night. Basically, as he has planted his foot, his knee has rotated and his thigh bone and shin bone have connected in his knee, and he has got really bad bruising in the bottom of his femur.
“I think he is on total rest for three or four weeks and then we will assess him after that, and it could be potentially seeing how it is or it could be an operation at the end of the that, so it could be a long one.”
That’s two more names to add to the ever-expanding injury list at the club. It seems like Huddersfield Town’s injury crisis is permanently in the headlines, which is unavoidable when you lose two centre-backs in a week, and three in a month.
For perspective, Matt Shaw did some back-of-a-fag-packet maths and worked out that the Terriers have had more players injured this season than 42% of the other 91 clubs have actually used. It was frustrating for a while, but these things happen. It became a cause for anger when it was the same sort of injury repeatedly.
At this point, their bad luck with losing players is absurd — Kane and Lees have both sustained injuries during fairly normal game situations. In his post-game presser, Duff was notably fed up when discussing his absentees. He must be tearing his hair out behind the scenes.
