Five conclusions: Huddersfield Town find a negative for every positive
Scoring three goals against a potential promotion rival would normally be a good thing — just not when the Terriers also conceded three avoidable ones to Wimbledon
1. You can’t drop points when you’ve scored three at home
If you’d told us before kick-off that Huddersfield Town were going to resurrect their habit of scoring in threes, we would assume we’d have little but good things to say about their performance.
Yet here we are, talking about a 3-3 draw that should have been exciting, but was in fact very frustrating. Lee Grant’s side had to come from behind on three occasions. Each time it was because they had conceded an avoidable goal.
Town have now gone ten games without a clean sheet in all competitions. That soft underbelly has been a repeat issue throughout this spell. However, this was the worst of the lot.
Wimbledon had only seven shots in the whole game to Town’s 25, which should be more than enough to see anyone off. But in the spirit of Black Friday weekend, Town offered up goals incredibly cheaply.
Grant was furious with his side after the game, and he was bang on when he described them as having ‘conspired against themselves’ to walk away with one point instead of three.
