Five conclusions on Huddersfield Town 1-1 Bristol City

1. Huddersfield Town weren’t helped by the officials, but…
Darren Moore was his usual diplomatic self after the game, but even within that, his assessment of the big talking point was straightforward and accurate: yes, that was a handball inside the box in the second half, and yes, Huddersfield Town should have had a penalty.
Sticking up an arm like George Tanner did to stop Delano Burgzorg getting past him off Danny Ward’s ball is a natural position only if the defender is, in fact, a plastic cat sat in the window of a Chinese restaurant. Intentional or not, Town should have been given either the requisite spot kick or, at the very least, a complimentary bag of prawn crackers.
That sense of injustice at the refereeing was only compounded by David Kasumu being variously grappled, kicked, scythed, headered, run down by cars, etc, etc, to no caution from the officials — only for Matty Pearson to end up in the book for a rather lesser infraction. It was a textbook example of what managers are talking about when they complain about officials failing to protect talented players.
