1. Darren Moore got it right again

The two games Town have played this week were the two we were dreading most when we looked at the fixture list a few weeks ago, feeling that the fans, players, and most of all Darren Moore were likely to have to endure 180 minutes of further pain before the onset of a rather more winnable run of games.

What we hadn’t considered, though, was that this little run of games, from Watford to Swansea, actually fell quite kindly for Moore when it comes to tactical preparation: all of them play a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1, all of them typically like to have plenty of the ball (Southampton, Sunderland, Watford and Hull all rank in the Championship’s six most possession-heavy sides this season), and all of them largely rely the wings for their creativity. I mean, everyone does, but moreso even than usual.

Moore may have felt forced into playing the 5-4-1 he used against Watford and Hull, and while some may still debate whether that was necessarily the case, those two outings before the international break achieved what the manager hoped they would. Let’s take it all back to square one and build again.
