Huddersfield Town announce retained list for summer 2025

Eleven players with first team experience are set to depart the club with Neo Eccleston the only player in discussions over a new deal

Huddersfield Town have confirmed their retained list following the conclusion of their 2024/25 campaign, with just one out-of-contract player still in talks over a new deal.

The club had already announced that goalkeeper Chris Maxwell has retired, while captain Jonathan Hogg has not been offered a new contract and is set to depart at the end of June.

A further nine players with first-team experience have now been confirmed to be set for release: Loick Ayina, Conor Falls, Scott High, Josh Koroma, Tom Lees, Matty Pearson, Josh Ruffels, Ollie Turton, and Danny Ward.

Neo Eccleston is the only one of Town’s out-of-contract players confirmed to be in ongoing discussions over a new deal. A former Chelsea academy player, full-back Eccleston started the final two games of the League One season under interim boss Jon Worthingon.

Tawanda Chirewa, Nigel Lonwijk and Joe Hodge will all return to Wolverhampton Wanderers following their loan spells, while newly-crowned player of the year Callum Marshall goes back to West Ham United.

Not counting Eccleston, that leaves Town with just 18 senior players under contract for the 2025/26 season as it stands. Among that number are Sorba Thomas and Bojan Radulovic, who were both sent out on loan last season.

Academy players Zak Abbott, Fope Deru, Donnell Garrick, Anthony Gregory, Danny Isaac, Cian Philpott, Oliver Riva and Michael Stone are also set for release.
