Huddersfield Town digest: Centre-back doubts for Stockport trip
Plus match previews and our predicted line-up for Saturday's big lunchtime six-pointer

Huddersfield Town will visit Stockport County for Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off. The hosts for the occasion currently sit two places behind Huddersfield on goal difference having played a game fewer.
Stockport have been the best away side in the division this season — including a 2-1 victory with ten men at Accu Stadium in October. But they have only the 15th best home record in the division after a mixed bag of results at Edgeley Park.
Big centre-forward Kyle Wootton is already into double figures in the goalscoring charts, while veteran Oliver Norwood has been pulling the strings in midfield. Loanee Nathan Lowe has however returned to parent club Stoke after picking up an injury over the festive period.
We’ll have five conclusions on the game for our paying subscribers by no later than first thing Sunday morning, followed by further reaction in Monday morning’s podcast. Get signed up not if you’re not already.
Elsewhere in League One: There’s another six pointer towards the top end of the table at lunchtime as seventh-placed Luton host eight-placed Stevenage.
In the 3pm kick-offs and of interest to Town: Bolton are away to Peterborough, Bradford host Rotherham, and league leaders Cardiff are away to Leyton Orient.
There is no League One action for Lincoln this weekend as their scheduled opponents, Exeter, will be playing in the FA Cup.
Town will then be at home Rotherham United in the last 16 of the Vertu Trophy in Tuesday evening’s 7pm kick-off.
The Millers claimed a 7-2 victory away to Salford in the last round to make it this far, but remain in poor form in the league and find themselves in the relegation zone after a run of nine games without a win, including losing all of their past six games.
The winners will take their place in the quarter-finals, which is the last round of the competition to be split into northern and southern sections.
Huddersfield Town injuries and absences
Sean Roughan went off with a groin injury at the break against Exeter and will be ‘difficult’ for him to be involved against Stockport at the weekend.
Joe Low has missed the past two games through injury and it will go ‘right to the wire’ as to whether or not he can play on Saturday.
More positively, Josh Feeney returned from injury against Exeter while Will Alves has been an unused substitute for the past two games.
Marcus McGuane, Mickel Miller and Zepiqueno Redmond have been in full training with the rest of the squad and are closing in on a return.
That leaves Antony Evans, Herbie Kane and Jack Whatmough as the only other players only the sidelines.
Predicted line-up to face Stockport
3-5-2: Lee Nicholls; Radinio Balker, Josh Feeney, Murray Wallace; Lynden Gooch, Marcus Harness, Leo Castledine, Ryan Ledson, Ruben Roosken; Alfie May, Bojan Radulovic.
Substitutes: Owen Goodman, Joe Low, Lasse Sorensen, David Kasumu, Will Alves, Cameron Ashia, Dion Charles.
