Coming up next
Blackpool have made a losing start to the new season, with Stevenage and Exeter getting the better of them in the league and Port Vale winning at Bloomfield Road in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.
That’s in spite of Steve Bruce receiving several solid reinforcements over the summer, including Stockport centre-back Fraser Horsfall, Sheffield Wednesday centre-back Michael Ihiekwe, Cryatal Palace loanee Danny Imray, and Millwall midfielder George Honeyman.
In stark contrast, newly-promoted Doncaster Rovers will then visit Accu Stadium on Tuesday evening having kept a 100% record in league and come so far this season.
Grant McCann’s side edged out Exeter 1-0 and Mansfield 2-1 in their first two League One games, then pulled off the most eye-catching result of the first round of the Carabao Cup with a 4-0 victory away to Championship Middlesbrough.
Town summer release Matty Pearson has played every minute for Donny so far this season.
Huddersfield Town injuries and absences
Marcus McGuane is closing in on making his Terriers debut after returning to training following a groin niggle.
Marcus Harness went off on the opening day against Leyton Orient with a blow to the side but has been back in training since.
Mickel Miller will be out for somewhere between 4 and 8 weeks after picking up a hamstring injury against Reading on Saturday.
Antony Evans will be out with a knee injury until late September-mid October, while Rhys Healey and Jacob Chapman suffered knee and ankle injuries respectively in the summer and are yet to appear.
Predicted line-up to face Blackpool
4-2-3-1/3-4-1-2: Owen Goodman; Lasse Sorensen, Jack Whatmough, Joe Low, Sean Roughan; Herbie Kane, Ryan Ledson; Alfie May, Leo Castledine, Ruben Roosken; Joe Taylor
Substitutes: Lee Nicholls, Josh Feeney, Lynden Gooch, Marcus McGuane, Marcus Harness, Ben Wiles, Dion Charles.
Huddersfield Town Women
Town Women will kick off their new season at home to Doncaster Belles on Sunday afternoon at the Stafflex Arena at Storthes Hall.
We will be providing full coverage of Town Women once again in the season ahead, but there’s no reason you shouldn’t get down there and support the side as they begin a new era following the Town men’s side’s takeover of the club.
Town Women season cards are available for sale, with men’s season card holders eligible for a 50% discount — an absolute bargain, when you consider the full price is just £50 for adults, £40 for concessions and £30 for under 21s. Information on that is available here.
Donate to Walk4Pounds
While I’ve got you, just want to ask if you have two minutes and a few quid to spare for a very good cause. I’ll be taking part in the shorter 10-mile route for Walk for Denis in September, which culminates at Accu Stadium ahead of the League One clash with Burton Albion.
Organised by Huddersfield Town, the walk is raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society and the Huddersfield Town Foundation in memory of the late, great Denis Law.
You can make a donation here - any amount gratefully received.
Even better, if you’re interested in signing up for the walk, details on how to sign up for the walk are here. Thanks!
