Coming up next
Huddersfield Town host Bolton Wanderers in League One in Thursday evening’s 8pm kick-off. The game will be available to watch live on Sky Sports Football, with coverage starting at 7:30pm.
The game comes just after the two sides were drawn to face off again over the Pennines in the FA Cup on the weekend of 1st November.
Bolton currently sit two points and two places behind Town having played a game more. After losing away to Stockport on the opening day, Steven Schumacher’s side did suffer defeat again in any competition until they fell to Northampton at the end of September.
A 3-0 defeat away to a resurgent Burton at the weekend has further punctured that ‘hard to bear’ aura around Bolton, and leaves them without a win in any of their six away trips this season (D3 L3).
As a team, Bolton have an xG of 20.57 and by far the most shots in League One (206 - the next-highest, Port Vale, have had 167). But with just 15 goals to show for their efforts, Bolton have also been one of the most wasteful sides in the league when it comes to putting those chances away.
There is a notable exception to that: Town will need to be very wary of Hull loanee Mason Burstow, who currently leads the division for goals after finding the net seven times in 12 appearances.
We’ll have five conclusions on the Bolton game for our paying backers first thing Friday morning, and the podcast will be out a bit earlier than usual as well — we’re looking at either Saturday or Sunday for that. Make sure you’re signed up as a We Are Terriers backer to make sure you don’t miss out!
Huddersfield Town injuries and absences
Mickel Miller and Antony Evans have been back in full training and may both be available to face Bolton, albeit Miller may be capable of more minutes than Evans.
Jack Whatmough is also back in training but will not be ready to play against Bolton.
Marcus McGuane continues to work towards a comeback from a groin injury but no expected return date has been set
Radinio Balker had been out with an ankle injury since the last international break but started for Suriname in their 1-1 draw with Panama last night.
Zepiqueno Redmond (knee), Will Alves (foot) and Herbie Kane (groin) are all expected to be out for ‘months’.
Predicted line-up to face Bolton Wanderers
4-2-3-1/3-4-1-2: Lee Nicholls; Lasse Sorensen, Josh Feeney, Joe Low, Ruben Roosken; Ryan Ledson, David Kasumu; Marcus Harness, Leo Castledine, Lynden Gooch; Alfie May.
Substitutes: Owen Goodman, Sean Roughan, Antony Evans, Ben Wiles, Mickel Miller, Bojan Radulovic, Joe Taylor.
Huddersfield Town Women
After suffering the setback of a 1-0 derby defeat to Leeds United at Accu Stadium on Sunday, Town will return to action at the Stafflex Arena at Storthes Hall this Sunday.
Town will take on Loughborough Lightning in the first knockout round of the FA WNL Plate in a 2pm kick-off.
Loughborough earned promotion from the Midland region of the fourth tier last season to take their place in the Northern Premier Division — one league above Town — but have found it hard going in the league so far with just one win from their first six games.
