Huddersfield Town player ratings as Swansea City steal last-minute draw
Marks out of ten from a frustrating 1-1 draw after protecting a lead for 90 minutes - and don't forget to give your own thoughts at the end, too
Chris Maxwell - 7
Pulled off a remarkable save with his left foot after being caught wrong-footed by a swerving Harry Darling long shot, effectively volleying the ball over his own crossbar. Dealt with everything else except Charlie Patino’s well-struck goal, which he was powerless to reach.
Matty Pearson - 8
Solid as ever and made a particularly important block early in the second half to cut out a dangerous Jamal Lowe ball across the face of goal before it could be tapped in.
Michal Helik - 8
Extremely commanding and did especially superbly to get back and force Jerry Yates off the ball with a muscular but clean challenge early in the second half.
Tom Lees - 7
Won his battles well to help Town keep Swansea at bay. Unfussy defensive performance with less dramatic interventions to make than his colleagues.
Ben Jackson - 6
Didn’t have a brilliant start but grew into the game as the first half wore on before being forced off injured on the hour.
David Kasumu - 6
Made a couple of useful interceptions but generally just stayed tidy. Wasteful on the ball in the final third on a few occasions, but the endeavour was there.
Jonathan Hogg - 6
Had a good game right up until injury time, when his attempt to shield a Delano Burgzorg pass in midfield failed and the hosts broke upfield to score. Not laying the blame on him for the goal as he’d have expected better cover, but a shame nonetheless.
Yuta Nakayama - 7
Back into the side at left wing-back having been benched for the past two games. Nearly gave Yates a golden chance to score with a wayward header before Helik intervened, which knocks him down from a better mark in an otherwise man-of-the-match outing.
Sorba Thomas - 5
One of a few players who, perhaps understandably, looked a bit leggy after a gruelling week. Showed a bit more vim in the second half having been quiet in the first, but best efforts came to little.
Danny Ward - 5
Made his first start for three months up top with Delano Burgzorg rotated out of the side. A passenger for much of the game, bar a header he put straight at the keeper late on in the first half. We would ordinarily have gone lower but do need to bear in mind he’s been out for a long time, so we’ll be generous on this occasion.
Jaheim Headley - 6
Took Josh Koroma’s place on the wing, with Koroma joining Burgzorg in having his minutes managed after playing most of the game on Wednesday night. Intercepted the ball smartly before driving forward to force the early own goal and decent ball to set up a Ward header just before the break. Switched to the right wing at the break before being subbed off.
Substitutes
Rarmani Edmonds-Green (for Jackson 61) - 6. Took over at right-back in a forced change, putting him head-to-head with half-time introduction Yannick Bolasie, but did well.
Josh Koroma (for Ward 67) - 5. Actually took over Headley’s duties on the right wing.
Delano Burgzorg (for Headley 67) - 5. Actually took over Ward’s duties up front. Similarly anonymous, aside from forcing a save from a narrow angle after good work by Koroma.
Subs not used: Jacob Chapman, Loick Ayina, Tom Edwards, Josh Austerfield, Tom Iorpenda, Brahima Diarra.
