Huddersfield Town player ratings from another loss at home to Cambridge
Yeah they were rubbish again
Lee Nicholls - 6
Well beaten with shots to the top corner
David Kasumu - 5
Started as Huddersfield Town’s right-back with Lasse Sorensen benched. Misdirected a few passes over the line and out of play as he tried to find his man up the wing in the first half. Good movement but quality on the ball lacking. Made a reactive block on the first half to deny Cambridge their best opening.
Radinio Balker - 6
Started the game well enough, carrying the ball out of defence and into the Cambridge half to start attacks. Was in considerable pain after making a challenge at the byline — looked like his ankle — and was able to jog it off to return to the field, but only for a couple of minutes before going down again and having to be subbed off.
Matty Pearson - 6
A vast improvement on some of his recent performances. Did well to hold off and then stop some Cambridge counter-attacks and won some important clean challenges. Looked to have dealt with the cross just before Cambridge took the lead, only for Ruffels to get in his way as he tried to clear it.
Josh Ruffels - 3
Started a left-back before moving inside after Balker’s injury. Took a blow to the head but was able to shake it off. Tested the goalkeeper with a long-range strike. Got away with gifting Elias Kachunga possession as Jonathan Hogg quickly won it back, but was unable to hold off Josh Stokes from getting into the box off a long ball and then got into a mix-up with Pearson before giving it straight to James Brophy to score. Kept the ball alive for Koroma to poke home the equaliser but part of a collective failure on Cambridge’s last winner.

Ben Wiles - 3
In and out of the game, as he often is. Unable to steer a free header on target just after Cambridge took the lead.
Jonathan Hogg - 5
Did have some wayward passes but also played two of Town’s better through balls, for Wiles and then later Joe Taylor, neither of which could be finished off.
Antony Evans - 3
Too ponderous in the final third, and wasted the chance to at least try and catch the keeper off his line just before the hour.
Callum Marshall - 5
Played the first half on the right and the second on the left. Had a pretty uneventful first half but started the second half really well before having to go off with a knock.
Dion Charles - 4
Worked really hard once again, if a little over-aggressive with some of his challenges. Had no real chances to speak of and didn’t always make best use of the ball when it did come his way.
Ruben Roosken - 4
Joined Marshall in switching flanks at the break. Had some promising moments in and around the box but just couldn’t find that final shot or cross.
Substitutes
Mickel Miller (for Balker 33) - Went on at left-back with Ruffels going into the middle. Got past his man well but unable to provide in a frustrating game. 4
Josh Koroma (for Marshall 56) - Entirely anonymous showing bar one curling effort over the crossbar before popping up with the couldn’t-miss late equaliser off a set piece. 5
Joe Taylor (for Hogg 76) - Another frustrating game as he showed some nice touches but wasn’t given enough of them. 4
Lasse Sorensen (for Kasumu 76) - On to finish the game at right-back. 4
Unused substitutes: Jacob Chapman, Ollie Turton, Joe Hodge.
