Huddersfield Town player ratings from sombre showing against Peterborough
Town couldn't make it three wins in a week, falling short in a 1-0 home defeat
Lee Nicholls - 4
Competent with his gloves. Less convincing with the ball at his feet. Don’t think there was much he could have done to stop Hector Kyprianou’s header from finding the net.
Lasse Sorensen - 3
Caught snoozing on the ball more than once, thus allowing Peterborough to exploit Town’s right. Left isolated at times, but had to get out wide much faster in an attempt to stop Tayo Edun’s cross for the opening goal.
Radinio Balker - 5
Dealt with Ricky-Jade Jones adequately before being forced off the field with an injury after half an hour. Disappointing.
Nigel Lonwijk - 5
Returned to the starting XI, partnering up with Balker for the first time - briefly. Put in some fantastic challenges but left the field after just over an hour. Unsure on whether the change was pre-planned or enforced.
Josh Ruffels - 5
He was fine. The majority of Peterborough’s came down the other flank so he didn’t have the busiest afternoon.
Ben Wiles - 3
Can’t recall him doing anything other than taking three less than satisfactory corners. Hooked at the half.
Jonathan Hogg - 5
Booked for chirping at the referee. Screened the back four, but was left one-on-one against much quicker opposition too often. Smashed the life out of the ball from the edge of the box, with his shot being deflected away by a big defensive header.
David Kasumu - 5
Struggled with his first touch, allowing the ball to get away too easily. Never had the opportunity to carry the ball through the thirds, although seemed to be facing a groin issue, potentially affecting his mobility. Unexpectedly ended up a centre back for the last 30 minutes.
Tawanda Chirewa - 5
Worked his way into the box twice for Town, having a shot deflected out for a corner. Surprisingly, didn’t reappear for the second half following Michael Duff’s rejig of his side.
Callum Marshall - 5
A nuisance for Peterborough’s back line, fighting tooth and nail for scraps in and around the box. Didn’t end up coming out with anything with real value.
Josh Koroma - 5
Had the ball in the net for the third game in a row - unfortunately for Town, the referee had already blown his whistle for a foul on Jonathan Hogg. A shame as it was a cracking finish. Consistently tried to get the ball on his right foot for a typical Koroma shot but the angle wouldn’t open up for him.
Substitutes
Ollie Turton (for Balker 42) - Found himself at central defence after replacing the injured Balker. 5
Antony Evans (for Wiles 45) - Provided another dimension to Town’s midfield, but his final product wasn’t up to scratch. Had two chances to square the ball across the box to his teammate but managed to find a Peterborough player on both occasions. 5
Dion Charles (for Chirewa 45) - Looked as though he was two yards behind. His runs were mistimed, his anticipation was delayed, and his general link up play was disjointed. 4
Joe Hodge (for Lonwijk 65) - Zipped around the midfield in his first ten minutes on the field. Went a bit quiet after that. 5
Freddie Ladapo (for Marshall 71) - Killed a Town counter attack with his first touch in the game. Had a shot blocked late in added time that may have pulled Town level. 3
Unused substitutes: Jacob Chapman, Loick Ayina.
