Huddersfield Town player ratings from flat goalless draw with Burton
The Terriers took an hour to actually show any threat and had three efforts cleared off the line. Might have scored if you'd started playing earlier, lads...
Lee Nicholls - 7
Twice saved well low to his right as Burton threatened in the first 20 minutes. Distribution to the wings mostly pretty good in the first half, in fairness — less so after the break.
Lasse Sorensen - 5
Played a fantastic ball from deep for Joe Taylor in the second half as Town finally threatened properly for the first time. Didn’t get forward as much as we are used to seeing and drew the ire of the crowd for going backwards on a couple of times he did get into the final third.
Josh Feeney- 6
Back in the side after a few games out. Composed on the ball and handled whatever Burton threw at him comfortably.
Joe Low - 5
Let his man get the wrong side of him a couple of times in the opening 15 minutes or so, allowing Burton chances on goal that they thankfully didn’t take full advantage of. Better after that as he helped to limit opposition chances. Should have scored late on after winning a free header from a corner that he put straight at the keeper. Volley wide in the dying seconds.
Ruben Roosken - 6
Moved back to left-back. Took a stray elbow to the face on the stroke of half time that left him bloodied and may have led to his substitution at half-time. Did a decent job defending his flank.

Ryan Ledson - 6
Slightly iffy first few minutes but grew into the game. Important sliding block to stop a Charlie Webster effort from just outside the box in the first half, and kept making good interventions in his own box. Great cross for Castledine’s last-gasp header that was cleared off the line.
David Kasumu - 6
Got his first league start of the season. Did well off the ball but didn’t always provide the best passing option for the centre-backs as they looked to work it forward. Did however provide something a bit different in the opposition half and caused problems a couple of times with his direct running.
Leo Castledine - 5
Had a floating role that allowed him to drift lift and right around Alfie May, but nowhere near at his best and just not on the same wavelength as Taylor. Wasted a great chance off a well-worked move midway through the second half, slicing well off target. Extremely unlucky not to get a last-second winner as his header was cleared off the line
Alfie May - 5
The central number 10 on his return to the starting line-up. Only really properly came into the game in the second half before moving up front with Zepiqueno Redmond’s introduction. Created that golden chance for Castledine that went spurned.
Will Alves - 4
His first start for the club, playing on the left wing. Would have liked to have seen Town make more use of his ball-carrying. Had some nice touches to get away from his man at times but was wasteful with the ball at others. Moved inside briefly when Redmond came on on to go off himself moments later.
Joe Taylor - 5
A constant target for hopeful long balls he had little chance of getting to until finally being released by Sorensen with the hour mark approaching, forcing a good save out of Bradley Collins. Can’t fault the work rate, as ever, but just not his day.
Substitutes
Sean Roughan (for Roosken 46) - Took over on the left of the back four. Had a low drive cleared off the line as Town upped the pressure in the second half. Got forward urgently and well. 6
Zepiqueno Redmond (for Taylor 69) - Took over on the left wing. Didn’t offer a huge amount. 4
Ben Wiles (for Alves 76) - Returned from the knock that kept him out against Bradford. Seemed to have a bit of a free role and offered Town a bit more movement and a focal point in the final third. 6
Bojan Radulovic (for May 81) - Finished the game at centre-forward. n/a
Marcus Harness (for Kasumu 81) - On his his customary right-sided 10 role. Put in some good set piece deliveries, thena couple of less good ones. n/a
Unused substitutes: Ellis Litherland, Murray Wallace.

I regret to report that I was only able to complete exactly half of the 10-mile walk to Accu Stadium for Walk4Pounds this morning before being forced to pull out with a twisted ankle after slipping on the way down a big hill. There were witnesses.
However, the walk is raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society and the Huddersfield Town Foundation in memory of the late, great Denis Law — so please don’t hold that against me.
