Huddersfield Town player ratings from drab home draw with Wigan
Murray Wallace's first-half header was cancelled out by yet another awful goal to concede as the Terriers fell apart after the break
Lee Nicholls - 3
Could have got to Callum Wright’s pass in behind the Town defence if he had committed to it but hesitated and hesitated to let Raphael get in to score — uncharacteristically lax from the goalkeeper.
Radinio Balker - 4
Was a target for balls in behind from minute one as Wigan looked to find that pocket of space on their left wing. Had drifted into the middle to cover for Low on the Wigan goal.
Joe Low - 5
Another patchy performance where he was solid for much of the game but had moments where he put himself in a bit of unnecessary trouble.
Murray Wallace - 6
Booked for a high boot to an opponent’s hip right from kick-off — another referee might have gone red but it was the right decision for us, no force behind it whatsoever. Made the most of still being on the pitch by turning home Lynden Gooch’s crossed free kick to give Town the lead going into the break. Went about his defensive work well enough, but again a bit over-ambitious with some of his forward passes.

Lynden Gooch - 5
Hit and miss with the ball, but perfect delivery on his free kick for Wallace’s opener. Unable to catch Raphael as he sprinted through to score the equaliser. Gave away the ball too often.
Marcus Harness - 5
Conceded possession a bit too readily on occasion. Let Christian Saydee get a free run into the box int he first half and was fortunate the Wigan forward sliced his shot well wide.
Ryan Ledson - 4
Steady away in the first half and had a powerful shot from just outside the box turned over the bar as half time approached. The game began to pass him by after the break and he was hooked for David Kasumu. Along with Harness, was not happy with some of the response coming from the Cowshed
Leo Castledine - 7
Sadly left to try and do everything on his own in the second half having been Town’s best player throughout the first half too. Fans reacted loudly to Lee Grant’s decision to replace him with Ben Wiles late on.
Sean Roughan - 6
Effective with his defensive work and did a really solid job of blocking off Fraser Murray’s attempts to get up the Wigan right. Got forward at appropriate moments and linked up well with Castledine. Faded a bit after the first hour.
Alfie May - 4
In for his first league start since his red card at Wycombe. Was denied a great chance to score off Dion Charles’ cutback by a well-timed sliding tackle, but otherwise struggled to make a meaningful contribution as Town were unable to provide service. Fans nonetheless unhappy to see him go off, too.
Dion Charles - 4
Had one of his games where the work was there and the ideas were right but he just couldn’t quite get it to come off for him.
