Huddersfield Town player ratings as Terriers claim victory over Northampton
Lee Grant's side were made to battle for a 2-0 victory secured courtesy of goals from Joe Low and Bojan Radulovic
Lee Nicholls - 6
Had nothing to really deal with in the first half bar a tame free kick that was put straight at him, and had only backpasses to deal with after the break.
Radinio Balker - 8
Had an early effort from a corner turned over the bar by the onrushing goalkeeper, and an overhead kick pushed onto the bar later in the half off another corner. Played numerous good balls in behind the Northampton defence. Fantastic sliding tackle as the last man with ten minutes to go to keep Town ahead,
Joe Low - 8
Another dependable game in the centre of the back three. Sprayed the ball to the wings well. Stayed up after a set piece and made it pay off as Lasse Sorensen found his run to the back post with a perfect cross for him to head home in first-half injury time. Taken off at the break.
Murray Wallace - 8
Started on the left of the back three before moving into the middle for the second half. The latest in a string of solid performances.

Lasse Sorensen - 8
In for Lynden Gooch in one of two changes to the starting line-up. Stopped Elliott List from getting in on goal on the counter-attack on ten minutes with a perfectly-timed tackle just inside the Town box. Town were constantly looking for him with passes to the flanks. Earned his assist just before half time as he cut inside and put it right onto Low’s head with a left-footed delivery.
David Kasumu - 6
In for Marcus Harness, albeit much more alongside Ryan Ledson rather than box-to-box, possibly in expectation of what a physical encounter this would be. What you’d expect: battled well, struggled to make best use of the ball at times. Wielded more influence after Ledson’s departure with Kasumu dropping in to a lone defensive midfield role.
Ryan Ledson - 6
Did his job in central midfield before going off midway through the second half.
Sean Roughan - 5
Offered a threat from set pieces but couldn’t find his touch in the first half and seemed to be out of sync with Castledine while playing at wing-back. Dropped back to the left side of the back three at the break and generally fared better there, but nearly let Northampton in late on only for Balker to bail him out.
Alfie May - 5
Played off the right of what looked to be a front three at times, with he and Castledine playing just behind Bojan Radulovic on either side. Characteristically persistent, but one of a few players who just couldn’t quite get his execution to pay off despite having all the right ideas. Shot well over the bar after getting free in the box to meeting Ruben Roosken’s cross just after the hour.
Bojan Radulovic - 7
Yet more good work in the build-up. Shot well over the bar from close range off May’s cutback just moments after May had done similar himself. Atoned late on by sending the keeper the wrong way to double the lead at the end of a quick break from a Northampton throw.
Leo Castledine - 5
Wasted a presentable first-half chance as he miscued off a cutback from the byline. A bit of a tired-looking performance first half after his sensational recent form.
Substitutes
Ruben Roosken (for Low 46) - Took over at left wing-back and offered a decent outlet. Had a shot to the near post well saved, though the officials thought it went out off the post. 6
Marcus Harness (for Ledson 61) - Fresh legs in a claggy midfield battle and offered more support to Sorensen out wide. Did some good defending around his own box. 6
Ben Wiles (for Wiles 73) - No real improvement on the man he replaced. 5
Dion Charles (for May 73) - Did brilliantly to rob Jack Burroughs on halfway then turn Dean Campbell inside out before squaring for Radulovic to score. 7
Lynden Gooch (for Radulovic 88) - Went on as an extra midfielder to help see oit the game. n/a
Unused substitutes: Owen Goodman, Cameron Ashia.
