Huddersfield Town player ratings as Stoke City draws keeps winless run going
Bojan Radulovic put the Terriers ahead just before the break before Ki-Jana Hoever scored a soft equaliser early in the second half
Lee Nicholls - 8
Made an important save one-on-one with Wouter Burger midway through the second half, followed by an equally important stop from the resultant corner. Forced into action again to save from a narrow angle after Town left too much space up their left side.
Brodie Spencer - 7
Restored to the side after playing from the bench on Good Friday. Made an important intervention midway through the first half by muscling Bae Jun-ho off the ball before he could get into the box, then later reacted well to Sead Haksabanovic’s presence inside the box off a deflected cross. Overhit a few passes up the right wing. Made a few mistakes off the ball but tended to make up for them.
Matty Pearson - 7
Had an well-taken early headed goal chalked off for offside against a teammate. Fantastic recovery tackle to stop Mehdi Leris get in on Nicholls with the game still goalless, though had to be bailed out by Nicholls later on after Burger got between Pearson and Michal Helik.
Michal Helik - 7
Generally sharp and quick to react to danger, with a couple of instance of getting slightly caught out too. Used the ball well at times, constantly looking to get it forward wherever possible.
Jaheim Headley - 5
Up and down performance. Generally kept things a bit simpler, trying to enable Sorba Thomas more than making things happen under his own steam. Had a slightly iffy start to the game but got through it well to become an increasingly important player at both ends for the rest of the first half. Drifted into central positions well in the final third and created the opener by doing so with a smart pass to Bojan Radulovic. Wasted a chance to repeat that assist by rushing his pass beyond the striker just after Stoke equalised, and returned to being a bit jittery thereafter as he and Thomas struggled to deal with Stoke attacks up that side.
Alex Matos - 6
Picked up his near-mandatory booking for a trademark rash foul in the first half. Worked hard but was heavy with his touch in a few moments.
David Kasumu - 7
Partnered Matos in midfield with Jonathan Hogg out with a shoulder injury. Busy performance in all the ways you want from Kasumu, even if some of his work on the ball left a bit to be desired at times.
Pat Jones - 5
Made his first ever Championship start after impressing from the bench on Friday. Correctly ruled to have been blocking off the Stoke keeper from an offside position on the early disallowed goal. Barely got a sniff in the first half with Town more often looking to play up the left and was unable to build on a brighter start to the second half before being subbed off.
Jack Rudoni - 7
Forced a good save out of Daniel Iversen just before Town took the lead, with Rudoni’s determination to get to the rebound and recycle the play into another chance proving crucial. Went close with a direct free kick at 1-1. Important header off the line from a Stoke corner. Surprising to see him taken off, particularly with Matos on a yellow card.
Sorba Thomas - 5
Returned from suspension to go straight back into the starting lineup. Lovely delivery for Pearson to nod home only for it to be ruled out. Gave Stoke plenty of problems even with some imperfections and looked the player most likely to make something happen for much of the first half. Really poor as Stoke equalised shortly after the break, giving Ki-Jana Hoever all the time and space in the world to pick his spot, and nearly really got to grips with opposition attacks up his flank. Moved out to the right for the closing stages.
Bojan Radulovic - 7
The fourth and final of Andre Breitenreiter’s changes, starting as the lone striker in a 4-2-3-1. Took his first goal for the club really well, holding off one man then rounding another before applying an excellent finish.
Substitutes
Rhys Healey (for Jones 58) - Struggled to get into the game under the close attentions of Stoke’s physical centre-backs. Was rightly fuming that Burgzorg didn’t give him a simple finish late on. 4
Delano Burgzorg (for Radulovic 59) - Played out on the right wing briefly then went up top. Did the hard part well to carve out a late chance for Town but selfishly went for a tame shot instead of giving Healey a tap-in. 3
Ben Jackson (for Jackson 74) - Took over from Headley after the starter had begun to struggle, and was able to help stem the flow. 6
Ben Wiles (for Rudoni 74) - Had a lot of the right ideas but execution was lacking. 5
Unused substitutes: Chris Maxwell, Luke Daley, Brahima Diarra, Tom Iorpenda, Josh Koroma.
