Huddersfield Town player ratings as Wycombe inflict narrow defeat
Jon Worthington's side played some lovely stuff in the first half but were once again unable to find the final touch required, with Wycombe getting all the best chances as they won 0-1
Lee Nicholls - 5
Unable to get to the shot that found the net to give Wycombe the lead, despite getting close. Should have saved it really. Charged down Fred Onyedinma to save and stop it going 2-0.
Lasse Sorensen - 6
Released Ben Wiles for a good chance from a narrow angle in the first minute. Had to pick his moments to get forward a bit more than usual but chose them well. Just couldn’t quite find that final ball. Nearly landed Town in trouble with a poor touch off a corner that was cleared, but recovered to commit a foul that stopped the counter.
Matty Pearson - 6
Put an early header well off target off a crossed free kick. Looked like he could have done more to block Udoh’s shot as Wycombe went ahead.
Josh Ruffels - 6
Partnered Pearson at centre-back with Radinio Balker rested. Did an excellent job first half, with one recovery tackle on Richard Kone as he threatened to go one-on-one with Nicholls midway through the first half particularly vital to Town. At fault for the goal as he miscontrolled a long pass forward, allowing Kone to seize on the loose ball and play in Udoh to score. Looked to have made a decent and important challenge on Onyedinma late on, but the ref called it a foul and booked him after playing advantage. Again got back well to challenge Onyedinma just as he was about to dink it over Nicholls late on. A shame about that costly error as he had a really good game otherwise.
Mickel Miller - 7
Made his first start since November and again looked bright in his hour or so at left-back, getting forward and playing off Roosken well to create trouble out wide.

Jonathan Hogg - 7
Restored to the starting line-up. Brilliant in the first half: alert to absolutely everything, reading the game superbly to win numerous challenges and interceptions. Make himself available as an out ball really well. Slightly less impressive in the second half but still an overall good defensive midfield performance.
David Kasumu - 7
Did what we have come to expect of him by breaking up play in the middle, getting back to make last-ditch blocks in the box and carrying the ball forward well. Unable to make an impact in the final third.
Ben Wiles - 5
Played off the right wing with Antony Evans going in at number 10. Put a shot from a narrow angle wide of the far post in the first minute. Relatively quiet thereafter. Moved inside to take over from Evans midway through the second half. Had a late header tipped over the bar.
Antony Evans - 5
Hard working, if a little clumsy in the tackle at times. Tested the keeper with a direct free kick with his last touch of the game.
Ruben Roosken - 6
Played some nice little exchanges with Miller up the left wide, won the ball high up the pitch to keep attacks alive several times, and got back at the right moments. Moved back to take over from Miller after his substitution, but kept getting forward. Couldn’t provide the final ball Town needed.
Dion Charles - 7
Got the nod ahead of Joe Taylor after impressing from the bench at the weekend. Came up big with a clearance off the line late in the first half to deny Caleb Taylor’s set piece header. Put himself about well at the front of an effective Town press, but had few to no real shooting chances to speak of.
Substitutes
Joe Taylor (for Charles 59) - Led the line for the final half hour but again lacking in service and looked frustrated. 4
Josh Koroma (for Miller 68) - On as a left winger, did OK but Town needed more. 5
Callum Marshall (for Evans 68) - Went onto the right wing but had a quiet game. 4
Tawanda Chirewa (for Hogg 83) - On as an extra attacking midfielder for the final minutes. Got away from his man well to cross for Wiles’ header that was turned over the bar - the closest Town went to scoring. n/a
Unused substitutes: Jacob Chapman, Ollie Turton, Joe Hodge.
