Player ratings as last-gasp penalty earns Huddersfield Town point at Millwall
Delano Burgzorg put away a 97th-minute spot kick to earn Darren Moore's side a 1-1 draw at The Den
Lee Nicholls - 6
Restored between the sticks having sat out the past few games. Mostly had routine work to do beyond a good first-half save to deny Zian Flemming. Couldn’t commit to the Murray Wallace cross until late with a Millwall forward lurking and unlucky not to keep out Brooke Norton-Cuffy’s goal on the rebound. Had to go off soon after.
Tom Lees - 7
Moved over to the right of Michal Helik in Matty Pearson’s absence. Got the better of his individual battles and never looked over-exerted.
Michal Helik - 6
Lost Kevin Nisbet’s run off the Millwall ball into the box that saw them score their opener, with the forward’s attempt to finish unmarked putting Nicholls in two minds.
Yuta Nakayama - 7
Into the back three in place of the injured Pearson. Offered the side a bit more recovery pace and a lot more ambition to get forward out of defence with the ball in the semi-full-back role that often comes with playing a defensive trio.
Sorba Thomas - 5
Multiple short set pieces routines in the first half did not work. Had a bit of a mixed bag of a game erring towards the ineffectual and needed to be more robust off the ball, though did bust a gut to stop Millwall getting in to add another in injury time after a David Kasumu error.
Jack Rudoni - 7
A very welcome sight back in the starting line-up for his first appearance since suffering a foot injury in October, even if his new bleached look make him look like a villainous starship captain. Made a big difference to Town’s pattern of play just by being on the pitch and using the space so much better than his colleagues. Understandably looked tired in the late stages but kept going.
Jonathan Hogg - 6
Stayed deep to allow his midfield colleagues to go forward, instead coming in to offer himself as an option to the centre-backs.
David Kasumu - 8
Back at it after a quiet game in midweek, constantly making himself available and bringing his trademark dynamism on and off the ball. Won loads of important challenges and helpful in getting Town up the pitch.
Jaheim Headley - 7
The fourth and final one of Darren Moore’s changes for the occasion. Put in a responsible shift against the attack-minded Norton-Cuffy, but just caught wrong-footed and beaten to it at the crucial moment as Millwall opened the scoring.
Danny Ward - 3
Did not make his presence felt in the first half with a tame shot at the keeper his only contribution. More at it after the break but not much and never looked like offering a genuine threat.
Delano Burgzorg - 4
Put in more of a shift off the ball but his touch was consistently lacking at crucial moments…except when it most counted, with his last-minute penalty earning Town a point.
Substitutes
Chris Maxwell (for Nicholls 66) - Came on in an enforced change and had little to do. 6
Josh Koroma (for Hogg 79) - Sent on in an attacking substitution. Forced the penalty deep into injury time from which Town equalised. 5
Subs not used: Loick Ayina, Tom Edwards, Josh Austerfield, Rarmani Edmonds-Green, Tom Iorpenda, Michael Stone, Ben Wiles.
