Huddersfield Town player verdicts as Bojan Radulovic scores winner against Greuther Furth
The Terriers brought their Austria tour to a close with a 1-0 victory against German second-tier opposition
Owen Goodman — Kept his cool under Furth’s high press and made sure he got the ball away. Got caught in no-man’s land a bit off one ball over the top having seemingly done enough to get there first only to stop short, but made sure of things a few minutes later as he roared out to win a header.
Lasse Sorensen — Took every opportunity to get forward. Again needed more accuracy on the balls in to him, and will be particularly frustrated that Bojan Radulovic didn’t slip him into the box in the second half where he would have been totally free to pick out a punishing cutback.
Jack Whatmough — Really solid outing. Great positioning and anticipation, including as he blocked an otherwise open goal after that Goodman error.
Joe Low — Got his first friendly outing of the summer. Played the first 18 minutes before departing in a planned substitution, though not before picking up a slight knock that prompted some concern. Could be seen running at full pace on the vacant pitch next door after going off, just to put those fears to bed.
Jay Sway — Kept his focus admirably well, allowing him to react quickly and cover when needed from left-back. Got better and better as the game went on, especially after moving over to right-back late on, and won some important challenges to keep Greuther Furth from dealing damage. Really good performance.
David Kasumu — Went into the book for an early challenge that looked worse in real time than it actually was — dove in at a steep angle but won the ball at ground level. Was able to spin away from trouble and drive up the pitch a couple of times in the second half, which was a real benefit to Town.
Dan Vost — Put in a shift in midfield before having to go off early in the second half with a knock.
Marcus Harness — Got into good positions but was let down by a few heavy touches that let Furth get in and win the ball back. Went off early in the second half. Valuable in the press as per.
Cameron Ashia — Determined with his work off the ball and linked up well with Mickel Miller whenever Town got the ball up that left side. Absolute dynamo all day long — never stopped running and chasing and hassling and driving.
Mickel Miller — Showed off his trickery in the final third and caused problems around the Greuther Furth box. Booked for a first-half challenge.
Dion Charles — Appropriately terrier-like off the ball and forced Furth into a panic on several occasions. No goalscoring opportunities to speak of, sadly.

Substitutes
Josh Feeney (for Low 18) — Played the majority of the game at centre-back and impressed once more with his coolness on and off the ball. He and Whatmough could be a really classy partnership if Lee Grant goes that way.
Ben Wiles (for Harness 46) — Played at 8, rather than at 10 as we have usually seen. Didn’t connect properly with a shot after helping force a good second-half opening, and not far away with a left-footed strike that didn’t quite have enough curl on it to find the top corner.
Bojan Radulovic (for Vost 50) — Played in that right-sided 10 role and looked good. Furth struggled to deal with his physicality, and he was in the right place at the right time to seize a misdirected headed clearance and slot home the winner.
Radinio Balker (for Whatmough 60) — Used his recovery pace to really good effect and came away with the ball inside his own box a couple of times.
Ruben Roosken (for Sorensen 60) — Came on at left-back with Sway moving to the right. Solid but reasonably quiet game
Joe Taylor (for Charles at some point but couldn’t tell you when exactly) — Turned on the afterburners to get in behind the Furth defence a couple of times. Looked like he could get one on one with the keeper off Radulovic’s flick-on but was forced too wide and challenged at the last moment.
Herbie Kane (for Kasumu) — Helped Town see out the game. Had a late shot save after being unable to guide far enough away from the keeper.
Freddie Ladapo (for Miller 75) — Had maybe the moment of the game with a brilliant bit of trickery on halfway to get a Town move going. Made a nuisance of himself in the build-up to Radulovic’s winner.
Subs not used: Lee Nicholls, Francis Hurl.
