Alex asks: Who would be your choice for the perfect manager for Town right now? (No rules!)

Tough one! I genuinely don’t have a specific name in mind, but I think there’s a list of criteria they need to fulfil.j

Chief among them, and one I somehow overlooked in my piece about what Town need from their next manager: although Darren Moore had the title of manager, he was effectively more of a head coach. It needs to be someone who is happy to be part of a recruitment committee alongside Mark Cartwright and Lee Maybury, rather than someone who wants to be very hands-on with the transfers.

You can have your own views on whether you like that model or not — there’s arguments for and against — but it’s something the club were committed to even before Kevin Nagle’s arrival and looks set to stay in place permanently. It can create unnecessary friction and issues for all concerned if a manager is not willing to work within that structure.
