Jimmywaks asks: I know there was much talk in the summer about whether our lack of signings was due to FFP restrictions or limitations within the previously submitted financial statement when Mr Nagle took over the club. Do we know if an updated statement was submitted to free up spending? Or are we in a position now where the necessary funds might be available in January?
Firstly, I think FFP has been used as a bit of a catch-all term by everyone since the summer - not just fans, but Nagle, Warnock et all too. If you want to be technical about it, the forward planning thing is actually FFI (Future Financial Information) under the EFL regulations.
When I spoke to Nagle in October, he confirmed the issue was more about forward planning than about any concerns about what’s in the P&L for last season, and last week he alluded to having been one of the first ownership regimes to be subject to the new, tightened FFI restrictions.
As for what that means for the January transfer window…
