Huddersfield Town ratings as Terriers come from behind to beat Peterborough
Lee Grant's side didn't get going until after falling behind early in the second half, but fought back to lead 3-1 before conceding a last-minute second goal
Lee Nicholls - 6
In for the suspended Owen Goodman. Yet again left with no chance thanks to a big deflection as Peterborough went ahead early in the second half.
Lasse Sorensen - 7
Had a couple of positive moments but failed to offer any real threat up the Town right until finally coming good by breezing past Jacob Mendy to get to the byline then squaring for Will Alves to slide home the equaliser. Played a part as Town took the lead, with a nice run and then a backheel for Harness helping Town work the ball into the box.
Jack Whatmough - 6
Made his first league appearance since Blackpool last month after impressing in the cups. Solid defensively but didn’t look totally comfortable on the ball at times under pressure from the Peterborough press, and was taken off for Murray Wallace at half time in what we assume to be a tactical switch to get more passing ability into the back line.
Joe Low - 6
Should have been booked for the most cynical of fouls early on, but somehow escaped censure. Shifted over to the right when Wallace came on at the interval. A little clumsy with the ball at his feet at times but solid with his defensive work. Battled especially well in the late stages with the score still at 2-1, but let Cian Hayes go free to score Peterborough’s last-minute consolation goal
Sean Roughan - 7
Town’s best player in the first half. Stopped Peter Kioso from getting crosses into the box and got across to cover for Low and intercept a dangerous through ball towards the end of the first half. Asked to do more in the opposition half after the break having spend the first period playing promising balls over the top.

Ryan Ledson - 5
Had a really poor start to the game, giving away simple enough passes several times in his own half. Settled into it thereafter and looked more like his usual self by the time half time arrived.
Herbie Kane - 6
Booked early in the second half for a challenge he had to make on Harry Leonard just outside the Town box, from which Peterborough scored. Was a bit lucky the referee chose to be lenient towards another unnecessary foul less than ten minutes later. Only had one thing in his mind as a loose ball ran out to him 25 yards out, with a little deflection on his venomous strike meaning the Peterborough keeper could only get fingertips to it on its way into the net.
Marcus Harness - 7
Making his 400th career appearance. Pressed well and got the ball into some good areas but was let down by a couple heavy touches and errant application of his final ball in the first half. Better after the break as he started to strike up more of a relationship with Sorensen and Leo Castledine.
Ben Wiles - 3
Slow to react to everything in the opening ten minutes, both on and off the ball. Showed more willing in the press for a spell after that, but took several poor touches on the ball that gave Peterborough possession and struggled in most of his individual duels. No surprise to see him subbed off after Peterborough went ahead.
Ruben Roosken - 3
Still a bit too tentative about taking on a shot when the opportunity presents itself, squaring to a marked Joe Taylor towards the end of the first half when he had time to pick his spot. Struggled to have any impact in the final third, with Town looking much better with Will Alves in that role.
Joe Taylor - 8
Retained up top after three goals in his past two outings. Nearly got a goal by exploiting an opposition mistake for a third game in a row early on, but couldn’t get to the loose ball in time after making a clean challenge on Peterborough keeper Alex Bass just outside his box. Chased down the keeper again to get a loose ball in the box late on, but hit the post after cutting inside a defender to get a better angle — should really have scored, but great work to create the chance in the first place. Finally got the goal his performance deserved in injury time, slotting through Bass’ legs after showing great strength to ride a robust shoulder challenge.
Substitutes
Murray Wallace (for Whatmough 46) - Not the most obvious change to make at the break unless there was some knock we don’t know about. Partnered Low at centre-back. Gave Town a natural left-footer to pass out from the back, which we presume was the intention. 7
Leo Castledine (for Wiles 56) - Instant improvement on Wiles. Got a good flowing move really going as Town took the lead and worked better with Harness. Shot wide after Taylor’s effort came back off the post. 7
Will Alves (for Roosken 56) - Took over on the left wing and made and instant impact as he scored from point-blank range with a great run to the back post. Clearly has a few tricks up his sleeve - excited to see more of him. 7
David Kasumu (for Ledson 80) - Fresh and capable legs for the Town press. 6
Alfie May (for Harness 84) - Lovely through ball for Taylor to score in injury time. 7
Unused substitutes: Ellis Litherland, Bojan Radulovic.
