Huddersfield Town ratings from horror show at Bradford City
Lee Grant's Terriers let themselves down with an abject 3-1 defeat at Valley Parade, with Zepiqueno Redmond's debut goal late on offering little solace
Lee Nicholls - 5
Given a tall order to do anything about the first two goals, which came from two tap-ins, though not quite sure what he was trying to do on the second. Caught in two minds on the third, expecting Josh Neufville’s cross to be touched home. Tipped over the bar in the final minutes.
Lasse Sorensen - 3
Looked one of Town’s more dangerous players in attack, and single-handedly stopped a couple of dangerous counter-attacks off Town corners. Unfortunately, his defending inside his own box was all over the shop and that can’t be overlooked. One of three Town players caught out positionally as Bradford took the lead — should have picked up Bobby Pointon after Low was forced to move across the box. Did much the same thing as Bradford doubled their lead in first-half injury time, letting Pointon go totally free to finish a flicked-on cross.
Joe Low - 4
Forced to go over to try and get to Will Swan after he got loose in the box on the way to the first goal, leaving Pointon free to tap home. The least egregious of the Town back line but still not great, in particular giving the ball away much too readily around his own box after the break. Finished the game in better sorts.
Murray Wallace - 3
Strong start to the game, winning a few important duels. Not sure where he had got to on the first goal, though. Booked for a cynical foul and fortunate not to get another just before half time after the officials missed what looked to be a glaring handball. Didn’t get up to challenge for the flick-on on Bradford’s second. Made some small amends by winning the flick-on that led to Town’s late consolation goal.
Sean Roughan - 2
Absolutely all over the place on all three first-half goals. Nowhere near alert enough to Josh Neufville as he breezed in to help create the opening goal, and let Bradford get in twice more in injury time by standing off his man and watching them cross into the box. Let his man in again when Bradford hit the bar int he second half.

Ryan Ledson - 3
Volleyed not far wide off a half-cleared corner in the first ten minutes. Yellow carded for the most cynical of fouls. Had too little influence on the game from midfield.
Herbie Kane- 4
Wasted multiple corners with awful deliveries that were so easy for Bradford to defend. The fifth Town player to be booked, for a clumsy challenge, and went off with a knock shortly after. Did spray a couple of promising forward balls into the corner early on before the cavalcade of awfulness truly began.
Marcus Harness - 5
Was paid very close attention and had to work hard to get time for himself on the ball. Made the right runs to get on the ball inside the box but never quite able to get that final ball away.
Leo Castledine - 6
Well at least someone looked vaguely competent in an abysmal first half for the Terriers. Booked for a late challenge early in the second half. Needed his teammates to up their game.
Ruben Roosken - 3
Started much more brightly than his previous couple of outings, finding space to try and hurt the Bradford defence. Like Sorensen, had his moments in the opposition but but let himself down more and more off the ball as the half wore on. Once again needed to recognise (or be told) that his left-back needed more help, and in fairness did so at times, but floundered when he did. Taken off at half-time.
Joe Taylor - 5
Had a shot deflected onto the crossbar after Harness found his run into the box on 15 minutes. That was about the last major involvement he had despite constantly making runs and chasing down lost causes.
Substitutes
Will Alves (for Roosken 46) - On at the break, not that you would have known for much of his time on the pitch as Town struggled to get into the final third. Had more of the ball after going to number 10 following Castledine’s withdrawal. 5
Bojan Radulovic (for Harness 56) - Thankless task at centre-forward but did what he could, and reacted sharply to Wallace’s flick-on to set up Zepi Redmond’s goal. 6
Alfie May (for Taylor 56) - Played just off Radulovic in the Harness role. Good delivery on the corner as Town got one back. 5
David Kasumu (for Kane 64) - Gave the ball away twice within minutes of his introduction. Settled in for a spell only to go off the boil again late on. 4
Zepiqueno Redmond (for Castledine 75) - Not the most auspicious circumstances in which to make a debut, but good to get some minutes and to get on the scoresheet by bundling home off a set piece. Played on the left wing with Alves going to 10. Definitely has something. 6
Unused substitutes: Ellis Litherland, Josh Feeney.
