Huddersfield Town have completed the signing of 23-year-old centre-back Joe Low, who joins the Terriers from League One rivals Wycombe Wanderers on a free transfer.

Low has appeared against Town twice, playing the full 90 minutes in the away win in January and coming off the bench for the last five minutes of the return fixture, a 1-0 defeat for Huddersfield under Jon Worthington.

Low, a Wales Under-21 international, came through Bristol City’s academy before loans at four non-league clubs in the south and south-west and an eventual move to Adams Park in 2023.

Wycombe confirmed last month that Low was offered a new deal but new Town manager Lee Grant has won the battle for his signature.

Low has agreed a three-year contract to become Huddersfield’s third signing of the summer and will join officially on 1st July 2025 after the conclusion of his contract with Wycombe, who are due a compensation fee as the player is under the age of 24.

Town manager Lee Grant said:

"I am really pleased to welcome Joe to the club. He is a player who we identified early as a key target to bring in to help form our defence for the 2025/26 season.

"Joe is a tall, strong, and commanding central defender who has experience of playing in a successful side in Sky Bet League One. He has shown high-level ability, great maturity and leadership for his age, and that can be seen when looking at his domestic and international records.

"He has expressed his hunger and intent, and we’re glad he has invested into the project we have here at Huddersfield Town. There was strong interest in his services at this level and higher, so it is great for us to have Joe commit his future to the club, as we continue to get our business done before the start of pre-season."

New Huddersfield Town signing Joe Low said:

"I have really thought about this move and after having multiple conversations with Lee I knew that this was the right move for me for my development. I like to be front-footed and aggressive, and I think that can work really well here.

"Last season, being part of a squad that was fighting at the top of the table has given me that experience that I can bring here, because that is absolutely what we are going to be doing this season.

"I felt like this was the right step up in my career - this is where I can develop, which is something I am really passionate about, and this will help me become a better person and a better player."

Joe Low scouting report: Stats, where he fits in and what to expect

Low’s stock rose as Wycombe, initially guided by Matt Bloomfield and helped by the goals of Richard Kone, maintained their promotion hopes all the way into the play-offs.

The Chairboys finished fifth in League One between the two play-off finalists and conceded fewer goals than 18 of the 19 teams below them; only Birmingham City and Wrexham conceded fewer than Wigan Athletic in 15th.
