That extra centre-forward signing everyone wanted proved elusive, but Town have made good additions elsewhere without losing many key players

Let’s talk about that striker

Missing out on Alfie May and Joe Taylor is naturally the big talking point after the club made no secret of their desire to bring in a new centre-forward.

Town did add one new striker to the two they signed in January, mind. West Ham loanee Callum Marshall was a bit of a punt, but has made a good start to life at the John Smith’s Stadium with two goals and an assist. Josh Koroma, meanwhile, has impressed Michael Duff with his early-season form.

If those two maintain their form and Rhys Healey can find a better run of fitness, that’s decent enough competition up front, with Danny Ward and the soon-to-return Bojan Radulovic as back-up options.

We do have to return to the issues we had with the latter three at the beginning of the summer, of course. Ward and Healey have spent their spells at Town on and off the treatment table. What’s more, Radulovic has struggled to nail down a place in the side despite being fit for much of the second half of last season, even when Town were in dire need of goals.
