Huddersfield Town transfers could get best out of Jaheim Headley
The left-back has been in and out of the side since breaking into the first team. Could renewed competition be exactly what he needs?
If we were looking at Jaheim Headley as a new signing, from afar, we’d be raving about him.
Last season, the 22 year old made the most tackles per 90 minutes (3.1) of anybody in the Town squad, had an impressively high tackle success rate (79%), completed more successful dribbles per 90 minutes than any regular starter except Delano Burgzorg, and was second only to Sorba Thomas among those regulars for the number of chances he created for teammates (1.7 per 90 minutes).
A highlights reel of his best moments would get you even more excited. Headley has all the tools you want from a modern full-back: attack-minded, capable of using his physicality to get up the pitch and to the byline, and a powerful but accurate left foot that means he can both score and provide from the left.
After announcing himself to the Town faithful with a goal and an assist against Birmingham in Neil Warnock’s first game in charge in February of last year, Headley played a key role in the end-of-season run-in that saw Town miraculously saved from relegation. 2023/24 looked set to be his season.
Only it didn’t quite work out that way.
