Huddersfield Town Women player ratings from semi-final success against Barnsley Women
Goals from Autumn Housley, Fliss Jones and Rebecca Beresford have secured Town Women a spot in the County Cup Final
Lauren Joyce - 7
No notable saves for her to make. Heavily involved in Town’s build up play from the back. Keen to be on the ball as much as possible. Received a good ovation as she left the field in the final ten minutes.
Serena Fletcher - 6
Overlapped from right centre-back, delivering some fantastics crosses into the danger area. Became more defensive as the game went on, ensuring that Town’s victory. Received two yellow cards in stoppage time, dismissing her from the field.
Beth Stanfield - 6
Held the back line accountable throughout. Looked in full control of the situation. Moved the ball around well, keeping everything calm.
Beth Ibbotson - 7
Never appeared to be in trouble, winning the majority of her challenges with supreme ease. Progressed the ball forward when it was suitable.
Molly Firth - 6
Plenty of chances to cross the ball but only got a few of them right. Despite this, she covered a serious amount of artificial grass. Up and down the right wing, contributing defensively when required.
Autumn Housley - 8
Looked comfortable in the middle of midfield. Tried her luck from 30 yards, smashing the ball first time just wide of the post - close, but not close enough. Bagged the opening goal of the game after some wise movement, leaving her free on the penalty spot to slot the ball into the bottom right corner. Superbly set up Town’s third with a ball that split open the Barnsley defence.
Ella Duffield - 6
Provided balance alongside Housley. Almost had a telepathic link up; when Housley went forward, she would sit deeper and vice-versa.
Yasmin Mason - 7
Left with acres of space to exploit on the left. Grew in confidence as the game went on, knowing full well that she could breeze past the right full back. Efficiently set up Town’s second goal after a great run down the left.
Ashley Tiripke - 7
Pulled the strings along the Town frontline. Unselfishly set up Housley for the first goal when there was an opportunity to take a shot for herself. Should have scored when she had the ball all alone at the back post but got the contact on her shot all wrong.
Katie Astle - 6
Perhaps fortunate not to be penalised for a challenge she made in her own box when the score was still 0-0. Visibly frustrated with the referee seemingly ignoring the excessive physicality Barnsley put on her.
Fliss Jones - 7
In the right place at the right time for Town’s second goal - no second thoughts as she smashed it into the goal with a first time finish.
