Huddersfield Town Women player ratings from drizzly draw at Cheadle
Marks out of ten from a first goalless draw of the season for Glen Preston's side
Kacey Bolton-Woollam - 8
Crucial save from point blank range just before the half-time whistle. Another quality stop in added time of the second half, cutting out another close range effort. A couple of moments of indecisiveness but always managed to recover unpunished.
Autumn Housley - 7
Had one of Town’s best chances (still a half chance) of the first half with a header that she did well to aim towards goal but it bounced wide. Did well stopping Cheadle’s attacks down their left not allowing a single player beyond her once.
Serena Fletcher - 7
You wouldn’t notice that this is only her third appearance of the season. She looks sharp, physical and confident in Town’s back line.
Beth Ibbotson- 7
Looked to carry the ball forward when the Cheadle press dropped off. Didn’t put a foot wrong defensively, recovering with ease when the ball was knocked over her head.
Rebecca Beresford - 6
Had the first of the shot of the game that curled over the bar, not too far away mind. Started to push higher down the left in the second half, doubling up with Mason.
Beth Stanfield - 6
In a real physical battle in the midfield. The ball never really sat for her to dictate play but she did her job in terms of breaking up play and making sure that her opposition didn’t have an opportunity to get things going.
Ella Duffield - 6
A couple of pop shots from the edge of the box but nothing that troubled the goalkeeper. Persistent in her efforts to get the ball moving for Town. Replaced after 80 minutes.
Charlotte Stuart - 6
Combative off the ball, winning some important headers in her own box. Didn’t have the service to connect with any of her runs into the box.
Leah Embley - 6
Just wasn’t quite her day and not for the lack of trying. The energy that she put into the performance was fantastic. Unfortunately the ball didn’t drop to her at the back post once despite making great runs into that area. Debate for whether she deserved a penalty when there was a coming together in the box. Seen them given but it was fairly 50/50.
Yasmin Mason - 6
Town’s lone striker in the first half and it showed at points. Attempted to drag defenders across the back line but on the wet surface the ball would often run away from her and Cheadle would recover with their strength in the numbers game. Every time she looked to get beyond the defence she would get a kicking. Some incredible defending denied her from opening the scoring from four yards.
Kate Mallin - 6
Started on the left but swapped with Mason after 60 minutes. Had a decent chance as the ball dropped to her on the penalty spot but she couldn’t get the ball out of her feet. Unselfishly squared the ball across the box towards Mason who came so close to putting the ball in.
