Huddersfield Town Women player ratings from stalemate at Stockport
The Terriers took a point after drawing 1-1 away from home
Kacey Bolton-Woollam - 6
Couldn’t do anything to stop Kenedy Owen’s dipping shot from finding the net.
Autumn Housley - 8
Denied a penalty in the first half after what appeared to be a definite trip. Played a massive part in moving Town up the field. She eventually got her reward, lurking at the back stick to fire the Terriers ahead.
Serena Fletcher - 6
Dealt with Stockport’s long ball football well and looked comfortable with the ball at her feet.
Beth Ibbotson - 6
Had a busy afternoon, putting in challenges all over the pitch. Pushed further forward when needed.
Rebecca Beresford - 7
Took advantage of the acres of space in front of her, collecting the ball and flying forward down the left flank.
Ella Duffield - 6
Linked Town’s play throughout the game, finding pockets of space to collect the ball on the half turn.
Beth Stanfield - 6
Displayed some fancy footwork to make her opponents look silly more than once — ‘Staninho’. Struck some lovely cross-field balls to find the wingers with plenty of room.
Charlotte Stuart - 6
Got stuck into an extremely physical battle in midfield and was on the winning side of it more often than not. Got clattered more than once, but kept going.
Leah Embley - 7
Tucked into more of an inside forward role in the second half. Had a fierce effort saved as she sweetly hit a half volley goalbound.
Yasmin Mason - 6
Rarely had an opportunity to get in behind, but was consistently a nuisance for the Stockport defenders, who couldn’t shake her off. Moved out onto the right and was instantly slotted through on goal. However, she hit the ball straight at the goalkeeper.
Kate Mallin - 6
Came close a couple of times, once with a cross-come-shot free kick and again with a long-range strike that just sailed past the post. Drifted wider to receive the ball to good effect.
Substitutes
Caz Simone (for Duffield 67) - Played a major role in Town’s goal, connecting with a long ball and then continuing their run into the box. Town scored after their shot rebounded. Changed the dynamic of Town’s midfield, as they were able to win the ball back more quickly. Clipped the outside of the post with a shot late on. 7
Scarlett McMahon (for Leah Embley 67) - Slid a perfectly weighted ball in behind to Mason, who should have done better with her attempt on goal. 6
Molly Firth (for Mallin 79) - Flashed a shot across goal from a tight angle — always a tough one to score. Had more time than she thought when she decided to shoot with her weaker foot in added time. 6
Ria Montgomery (for Housley 82) - Didn’t have much to do after coming on. 6
Unused substitutes: Lauren Joyce.
