Jaheim Headley departs Huddersfield Town for Port Vale in permanent move
The Terriers academy graduate has reunited with Darren Moore at League Two promotion hopefuls Port Vale
Jaheim Headley has departed Huddersfield Town for League Two side Port Vale in a permanent move for an undisclosed fee.
The left-back, 23, joined Town’s academy in 2017 and rose through the ranks to make 54 first-team appearances for the club.
However, Headley’s first-team opportunities have been limited this season with Mickel Miller emerging as the clear first choice in Michael Duff’s side at left wing-back.
Josh Koroma and Josh Ruffels have both played ahead of Headley since Miller suffered a knee injury in November, while Dutch left-back Ruben Roosken was announced as Town’s first signing of the January transfer window last month.
Headley will now be reunited with former Town boss Darren Moore with Port Vale sitting fifth in League Two, just a point away from the automatic promotion places.
Town sporting director Mark Cartwright said in a club statement: “Jaheim has shown flashes of his ability at first-team level, but hasn’t found the consistency required to play as regularly as he would need to continue improving. By allowing him to leave, he now has that opportunity.
“A graduate of our academy, that is no small achievement, and we’re proud of the journey Jaheim has gone on during his time with us. Departing with the best wishes of all at the club, we wish him all the very best for the future.”
Duff added: “Jaheim has remained professional throughout our time at the club, despite seeing his chances in the side become limited. This is a move that is in the best interest of all concerned.
“With clear potential, he needs regular minutes to realise that, which he isn’t in a place to get here. We wish him all the best at his new club and in his career going forward.”
