League One club by club: Who Huddersfield Town will face next season
A slightly tongue in cheek look at the 23 opponents the Terriers will take on when the new campaign gets under way
League One.
A little over a decade ago Huddersfield Town were way too familiar with it, now it feels like an alien landscape. There are some familiar names — your Boltons, your Birminghams, your Wigans — but what the hell is a ‘Crawley’ and why does my wife want to go to a Wrexham game?
With that in mind we thought we would look at the early runners and riders, explain a bit about what lies ahead, and try to get excited about some of the new grounds to be visited. We will also briefly mention Peterborough.
Into these, then.
Barnsley (6th)
Been close to promotion back to the Championship two seasons in a row, one of them under Michael Duff. This summer they need a bit of an overhaul — a few interesting players are likely to need replacing and they need to find a way to get over the play-off finishing line to avoid more heartache having lost a final and a semi-final in the last two seasons.
A local derby, a narrative around Duff, potential top six rivals — both Barnsley games could be quite lively this season.
