Promotion challenging Cheadle Town pip Town Women

Huddersfield Town Women fell short at home against a well organised Cheadle Town Stingers side. A second half Jess Gillin goal was enough to seal the Manchester side all three points, but Town Women certainly had their chances to come away with more from the game.

Manager Glen Preston said:

“I feel a bit annoyed at my own players to be honest, because I don’t think Cheadle have really bothered us, other than set-pieces, in the entire 90 minutes. I don’t think we created a massive amount either but I don’t think they created an open play chance.

“I thought we were the side that were trying to play football, and looked more in control in and out of possession.

“I am disappointed that we have had three gilt-edged chances ourselves from set-pieces, free headers on all of them, and we have missed the target on every single one.”
