Six unanswered questions for Huddersfield Town going into the new season
The Terriers have already got most of their transfer business done and have completed their pre-season friendlies, so there are now a few things that only time can tell us
Will there be any further transfers out?
Transfers in are less of a question, because Town’s stance is fairly clear. Lee Grant said last week he wanted three or four new signings. Since then, Town have signed three more players. They still could do with another number 10, but we wouldn’t expect any more after that unless they’re presented with an unbelievable opportunity.
The outs are more interesting. Brodie Spencer and Sorba Thomas have been the only high-profile exits since the summer retained list came out, both of which were moves Town expected to happen.
There isn’t anyone else now who you would put in that category. Lee Nicholls was a question mark for us earlier in the summer, but Jacob Chapman has been absent from the last few games of pre-season having picked up an injury that prevented him from travelling to Austria. That would change the complexion a bit: Town won’t want to leave themselves short on goalkeepers.
As such, with 11 new players in the building already this summer, the question becomes whether Town feel there are now players in the squad who are surplus to requirements and would be best moving on.
