Strength, style and stamina: Huddersfield Town Women battle hard at home
Town Women maintained their perfect start to the season with a 1-0 victory over Stockport County, as Charlotte Stuart scored her first goal for the club
Glen Preston’s squad earned three points and another clean sheet after defeating a strong Stockport County side in their first home fixture in FAWNL Division One North. The game provided a tough test for the Terriers, who were resilient and up to the task.
Charlotte Stuart put Town ahead in the second-half with a superbly taken strike after the ball dropped to her inside the box. At the other end, Kacey Bolton-Woollam was decisive between the sticks, pulling off saves high and low to defend Town’s lead. She was helped in this endeavour by a spectacular goal-line clearance from Beth Ibbotson.
“It’s great to get the win,” Stuart said. “We knew it was going to be a tough challenge, so it’s great to have six points on the table.”
