What relegation to League One would mean for Huddersfield Town
It's not nice to consider but we’re aware plenty of you want to know the potential implications
With just eight games left this season, relegation to League One is a real possibility for Huddersfield Town.
That’s pretty stark, and with several six-pointers still to come, things remain very much in their own hands. There’s every chance they can once again get themselves out of it and we can go into the summer looking forward to another year of Championship football at the John Smith’s Stadium.
But we’re aware from the Q&As we’ve hosted – both on the website and at the live podcast – that plenty of you are already wondering what relegation would mean for the club in real terms, from short-term plans on the pitch to long-term ambitions off it.
Some of it speaks for itself: crowds would be down, the football would be of lower quality, and the club would be another step removed from their hopes of returning to the Premier League in the medium-ish future. Other bits are a bit less transparent.
That’s what we’re going to cover here, in the hope that this article will prove to be a complete waste of time for us all.
