Steven Chicken: Kevin, thanks for joining me. Appreciate your time as always. We’ll start with the big news this week, Lee Grant appointed [as the] new manager. Can you talk us through what you see in Lee, what you think he can offer, and why he’s got the manager title rather than head coach?
Kevin Nagle: I think Lee’s a really dynamic coach. I watched him at Ipswich, I watched him really at the first-team level, take on really a leadership role, we saw that. Everybody who knows Lee knows his skill sets.
He’s data-driven. It’s a business today, you’ve got to be data-driven. He’s a leader. You can see that he’s a leader. And at the same time he possesses a lot of qualities that would really elevate him above his peers even though he’s an unproven manager at this point.
SC: Yeah, I think you could hear in his first press conference the level of detail that he went into and the references that he has at Ipswich and the way he got them scoring goals. We know that he’s very well regarded in the game. Was he highly recommended to you?
KN: He was highly recommended. We spanned really the entire list of those who we thought were going to be available and those who were available. Some were people who were really new coaches, and at first I wasn’t going to hire a new (inexperienced) coach.
