Huddersfield Town have announced skilful Aston Villa forward Zepiqueno Redmond as their 14th signing of the summer transfer window, which has now closed.

The 19 year old has moved to Accu Stadium on a season-long loan. He can play anywhere across the forward line but has usually been fielded at centre-forward or on the left wing.

Redmond was very highly-regarded prospect at Feyenoord and made nine appearances for their first team last season, including twice appearing at San Siro as the club took on Milan and then Inter in the Champions League knockout stages.

He was also part of the Dutch side that won the under-19s Euros this summer and scored twice in their 4-2 win over England in the group stage.

Aston Villa swooped for Redmond as a free agent earlier this summer but he is yet to make an appearance for Unai Emery’s side.

Town boss Lee Grant said in a club statement: “I’m delighted to welcome Zepiqueno to the Club, and his arrival rounds of a fantastic summer transfer window for us.

“With a great pedigree at both club and international level, he’s an exciting young player and I look forward to working alongside our coaches to help him on his journey of fulfilling that promise.

“In the conversations we’ve had, he’s a player that clearly shares our ambition and wants to prove his ability, so that’s a hunger we hope to use to our advantage as our season continues.

“Another player with natural versatility and the comfort to play in multiple positions in the final third, he gives our attacking unit another dimension as we look to compete across multiple competitions this season.

“Having exposure to Premier League standards with Aston Villa this summer and experience of the Dutch top flight and Champions League at another big club in Feyenoord, those achievements don’t happen without hard work and dedication.

“As a club, we’ve been diligent, focussed and aspirational in our business this summer, and with fourteen new high-quality additions made, we’re in a great place as the transfer window shuts. I look forward to continuing our hard work with the group to make that count as we progressive forward deeper into the season.”

Normally we’d run a stats-based scouting report on a new signing, but…well, he’s played very little senior football, so there’s not a significant enough amount to go on.

Helpfully, our brilliant podcast editor Chris Nee runs the superb Aston Villa Review and wrote a lowdown on Redmond when he made the move to Villa Park earlier this summer. Republished with permission, here’s what he found about his career so far, what his coaches have said and how he’s got on in his first steps in senior footblal.

What we know about Zepiqueno Redmond

Zepiqueno Redmond is an exciting prospect. He turns 19 next month and looks every bit as raw as you’d expect of a player with barely a handful of senior appearances to his name.

He joined Feyenoord’s academy from ADO Den Haag at the age of 13, signing professional terms three years ago. He’s considered one of the best players to come out of the academy in recent years.

Now a Netherlands international at various youth levels up to Under-19, Redmond appeared for the Feyenoord first team in the Eredivisie, KNVB Cup and Champions League in 2024/25.

But he’s been playing primarily for the Under-21 side, to which he graduated only last summer.

Thanks to his rise through the ranks as a consequence of a spate of attacking injuries, Redmond was also linked with Villa’s Premier League rivals AFC Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur, and Serie A giants AC Milan.
